THE POETIC PICS

 13 Years

Did they pass so easily, Those thirteen years?

In the mere blink of two eyes, And yet,

The days of wearing uniforms And taking small, youthful steps,

The pure, innocent laughter Free of resentment,

The books we carried Without ever thinking them a burden,

Friends undivided By who was boy or girl,

The first love that dissolved Like air into the air,

The teachers who taught us To distinguish right from wrong,

The compound walls we leapt over Like tailless monkeys,

The cane-strokes received from the principal Because of those very leaps,

The Ordinary Level exams Passed without studying,

The Advanced Level subjects chosen With such strong conviction,

And as a conclusion to it all, The final day's farewell,

With the Advanced Level exam, This chapter has come to an end....

Should I try one more time..?

What more am I going to gain than this,

it’s just the same things I’ve already received.

The same separation, the same sorrow,

the same tears....

                                                                                                                       THE LOVER OF LINES✍

An Unbeknownst Moment

A moment I admired her so much,

That my eyelids yearned, asking,

"Can we not take a rest...?"

A moment that made a distance felt,

Even while being so close by.

A moment of staying close-lipped without speaking,

Knowing she would hear if I spoke,

Yet waiting for some kind of spark.

And for that, what was received

Was a glance with a raised eyebrow,

Completing

That very day.....
